Link to Libraries Event Hosted at Holyoke's Log Cabin

HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A chance to celebrate the importance of reading tonight occurred in Holyoke.

Link To Libraries hosted a night of passion at the Log Cabin.

Western Mass celebrities and business leaders such as MGM Springfield president Mike Mathis and Springfield symphony orchestra conductor Kevin Rhodes served up their favorite food or drink, all to benefit Link To Libraries and its mission to make sure every child has a book of their own.

"Link To Libraries is an all-volunteer agency. We have no paid staff. 93 cents on the dollar goes to one place only; buying new books for underserved boys and girls," said President and Co-Founder Susan Kaplan.

More than 500 people joined in the event tonight.

Link To Libraries was formed in 2008, and since then has donated nearly 500,000 books to area schools and organizations.

By the way, Western Mass News is a Link To Libraries sponsor.
