Books Without Barriers by Link to Libraries
Every child deserves books they can connect with.
For a toddler, that might mean a sturdy board book they can turn the pages of themselves. For a child learning to read, it might mean a story that matches their reading level and still feels right for their age. And for a family who speaks more than one language, a bilingual book can make storytime something everyone can share.
Through Books Without Barriers, Link to Libraries partners with local agencies, schools, and other nonprofit organizations to provide brand-new books to children from birth through seventh grade. Together, we help children find books that reflect their interests, honor the languages they speak at home, and meet their reading and accessibility needs, including those related to disabilities.
By adding these books to home and school libraries, we give children more chances to discover a story they want to read again. A book that feels right can make it easier to join a classroom conversation, build confidence reading independently, or start a new bedtime tradition with someone they love.
That’s what meeting children where they are looks like: a child opening a book and thinking,
This one is for me.
