It is back to school time and it’s common for some children to have anxiety about starting school, especially this year. Laurie Flynn, President and CEO of Link to Libraries is here to tell us how books can be used as tools to help children and families cope with the back to school fears.
Laurie Flynn, President of Link to Libraries, brought Mass Appeal to a local Springfield classroom to read “The Lorax,” and then gave us tips in studio for reading to our children each night.
As the result of a partnership with Big Y, a family-owned food retail company with stores across Western Massachusetts, schools in Berkshire County received 1,000 new books for school and classroom libraries.
On April 10th Link to Libraries held its biennial gala at the Log Cabin in Holyoke. The events theme of "Once Upon a Time" tied in perfectly with the non-profit's mission of getting the fascinating world of books and literature into the hands of local youth.

Laurie Flynn says it’s not often that one gets to make their passion their profession. And it was the opportunity to do just that which prompted her to put aside a budding marketing business she co-founded a few years ago and become president and CEO of Link to Libraries (LTL), the decade-old nonprofit that, as the name suggests, puts books on the shelves of school libraries and other agencies and promotes childhood literacy on many levels.
The largest regional distributor of books to underserved youth in Western Massachusetts has a new president and CEO: Laurie S. Flynn took the helm of Link to Libraries late last month from co-founder Susan Jaye-Kaplan, who had served as president since the nonprofit was founded in 2008.
